The Crowne Plaza Times Square hotel is now your official 4th of July New York hotel for the 2009 Macy's Fireworks show over the Hudson River.  For the first time in decades, the fireworks have been moved from the East River to the Hudson River in order to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's first sail of the river that now bears his name.

What this means to you is that you can have unobstructed views of the fireworks from your Hudson River view guest room.  Because 2 of the barges launching the 100,000+ fireworks are directly in front of the hotel, at both 50th Street and 45th Street (we are on 49th Street and 48th Street), the view will be incredible.  The fireworks will average about 100 stories in height.

Cinco de Mayo is here!!! This month is full of great events at Broadway 49:

I have been waiting for April to be done because i am so amped for the warm weather and all of the great FREE tastings we have lined up for you this month.   To kick off May and in celebration of Cinco de Mayo we will have  Tequila Tuesday's all month long. Each Tuesday this month will feature a tasting of different Tequilas, like Patron, Cabo Wabo, Hornitos and Inocente.  Muy Delicioso!! :) Then moving on to Whiskey Wednesday's which is getting spring/summer makeover. Each Wednesday we will be tasting American Bourbons like Makers Mark, (RI)1 by Jim Beam, Small Batch Bourbons-Knob Creek, Bakers, Basil Haydens, Bookers and Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare Bourbon.  We hope you will join us for these awesome opportunites to taste and learn in Broadway 49 Bar and lounge... Remember all events are free from 6:00pm to 7:30pm and as always the more the merrier!!! Hope to see you all there!

Mother’s Day is coming around the corner and Brasserie 1605 would like to invite our guests to celebrate this special day with our outstanding menu, stunning view, stellar service, and extraordinary atmosphere!  This year’s Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch is not one to be missed!

First let me thank all of you who came out to last week's Whiskey Wednesday!...We are so glad that you enjoyed yourselves at the FREE tasting of Classic Single Malts. We had such a great time tasting the Oban, Talisker, Singelton of Glendullan, Lagvulin and Cragganmore (my tastebuds are still smiling ) and I can't wait until tommorow for Glenmorangie.  We hope you will come out again this Wednesday...same place same time (okay just in case your forgot Broadway 49 bar 6:00 to 7:30pm)...

....And even though it is taking spring awhile to get here we are moving forward with or without the warm weather....The menu in Brasserie 1605 is changing, great seasonal entrees at great prices with great service..a new cocktail list will be out  soon (Mint Julep's or Hendricks &Tonic anyone?) and as Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby approaches we are looking to bring some great tequilas and bourbons on board.... So keep checking back here or on our events calendar for whats going on.

So this is my first blog...so please bear with me...

First by way of introduction i am the beverage manager here at the hotel and a Penn State Alum- we are... Penn State i had to do it! I got into this business because I love that each day is different and I get to meet so many interesting people on a regular basis that there is never a boring day.

Any who enough about me...im so excited about the upcoming events in Broadway 49 that i just had to share them...this week we are having a cool Whiskey tasting of all the classic malts of Scotland for FREE!  thats right i said free. Where can you go these days and get free tastes of delicious Scotch? (or anything for that matter)  And to top it off we do this just about every Wednesday. check back here or on facebook for our events or just stop in :)

Now, i know you are thinking "Scotch, isnt that something that grandpa's drink?" and the answer is probably yes...but that doesnt make it uncool --- just like shoes or  significant other there is a Scotch out there  for everyone...and by tasting through all of the ones we have to offer ( which we carry over 70 different kinds) you are sure  to find one or many that you will love... Open a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet and you smell chocolate and coffee, Bruichladdich fifteen and the scent of toffee and caramel make your mouth water...lagavulin and you feel like you are around a campfire bc of the peaty-ness... And thats just three...so join us this Wednesday and find yourself a Scotch to call your own! I have already found mine :)

Come join us in Brasserie 1605 for our fantabulous Easter Buffet, featuring amazing creations by our talented culinary team, led by Chef Keith Williams, available from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Easter Day.  Stop in for a quick bite or stay and enjoy the views of all Times Square has to offer.  Afterwards, head across to Broadway 49 Bar and Lounge for relaxing drinks or cool shots to keep you warm in case the weather's bad.  If the weather is bad as it's supposed to be, stay with us and try one of our single malts to keep you warm for the rest of the night.
